OVERVIEW

Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco is a centuries-old estate deep in the Val d’Orcia, comprising a castle, a church and a Borgo in the heart of the countryside. PRACTICAL INFO

Location

Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, the bucolic Italian resort located in Montalcino, Tuscany is founded by Massimo Ferragamo. The resort is set within one of the oldest and best-preserved estates in Italy and is located in the heart of Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Castiglion del Bosco is about an hour and a half from Florence, 2 hours from Pisa and 2.5 hours from Rome. The estate also has an on-site helipad. A helicopter flight from Siena or the Grosseto private airport takes approximately 45 minutes. The Val d'Orcia is an undulating landscape known for its enchanting beauty and seductive colours and textures. The whole of Tuscany is within easy reach, from the galleries of Florence, to the medieval town of San Gimignano, and from the historic town of Siena to the beaches of the Mediterranean.

Accomodation

Castiglion del Bosco is an 800-year-old estate comprising the ruins of a castle, a medieval church, and the Borgo, a village that was once an important farming and social hub. The Borgo now forms the heart of the resort and 23 suites are housed within its buildings. The Suites are creating an overall impression of great harmony with their antique furniture, genuine textiles and artisanal pieces. Exposed wooden beams and cozy corners feature alongside modern comforts and the latest technology. The Villas of Castiglion del Bosco have been restored to use, creating new traditions of their own. Ten rustic farmhouses have become luxury villas, with decor by Teresa Bürgisser Sancristoforo, featuring stone, wood, fire, antiques and bespoke furniture. Bronzes and lamps evoke the past, in an intimate, timeless and elegant ambience.

Services

It is at the Borgo where the 24/7 reception, concierge and room services are based for the whole estate. Also situated in the Borgo are the traditional but stylish Osteria La Canonica, offering a regional menu of seasonal Tuscan favourites, and the elegant Ristorante dell Drago, open for dinner only, for refined and creative Tuscan and Italian cuisine. Guests staying here can relax by the fabulous outdoor heated stone infinity pool with views over towards the hilltop town of Montalcino or enjoy one of the treatments offered at the beautiful CdB Spa or fitness center. Castiglion del Bosco is also a historic winery and is the fifth biggest producer of Brunello di Montalcino. The estate's breathtaking 18-hole golf course was designed by the legendary winner of the British Open, Tom Weiskopf. This prestigious course set within a UNESCO World Heritage Site offers an unparalleled playing experience in Italy's only private golf club.
