Shiki-Shima: the world’s most luxurious train

The most opulent train ride is now available in Japan. The Train Suite Shiki-shima, operated by East Japan Railway, has five-star lounge, dining and observatory cars and features a menu devised by a Michelin-starred chef. The train can accommodate only 34 passengers in magnificent 17 suites. The suites boast a working fireplace and second-floor loft, and they all represent a perfect combination of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and materials with modern touches. The new-age train is a masterpiece of renowned designer Ken Kiyoyuki Okuyama.
